The patterns are written with the utmost care and are tested to ensure their feasibility. However, mistakes happen, and we always appreciate it when you report an issue to us.
You may also have doubts about what is indicated.
We invite you to send us an email at support@lucileateliersdesigns.com (address which you can find in our patterns).
Indeed, it’s only via this email that we will respond to your questions (do not write on Ravelry or social networks).
Please make sure you have the latest version of the pattern (you receive an email with each update) and that you have not seen any corrections on the errata page (for printed patterns or book).
Please note that we only provide support for Lucile Ateliers Designs patterns. For other designers and brands, please contact them directly.
Most of our patterns include various sizes. You will need to choose the one that suits you.
Whether for an accessory or a garment, we always indicate a recommended ease for wearing your knit.
▶ Positive ease means that your knit will be larger than your actual body measurement. The larger the ease, the more loose the knit will be.
▶ Negative ease means that your knit will be smaller than your body measurements. The smaller the ease, the more close-fitting the knit will be.
▶ Neutral ease (zero) results in a close-fitting garment.
How to choose your size?
Measure the part of your body to which the ease refers. For example, for a sweater/cardigan, measure your chest circumference (don’t hesitate to ask for help for a more accurate measurement).
In the table, find the closest A measurement (ease measurement) to your measurement. Look for the one that is higher when you need positive ease, and the one that is lower for negative ease.
Check the ease: by subtracting the measurement from the chart from your actual measurement. If the ease falls within the recommended range, then choose this size. Otherwise, recalculate with another size from the chart.
Example with the Ariane cardigan:
You measure 92 cm in chest circumference. The closest larger size is 99.5 cm: 99.5-93 = 7.5 cm. The recommended ease being between 7 and 10 cm, you can choose this size.
Between two sizes? Determine if you prefer a garment that will be rather loose-fitting or rather close-fitting by choosing the size above or the one below.
You can also look at the other measurements to get an idea. The upper arm circumference is a good measurement to consider when determining your size choice.
Also, don’t hesitate to modify our patterns as you wish! In our opinion, a pattern is a basic guide, a starting point from which you can deviate as you wish to create your own knits 🙂
We choose not to indicate a level for our patterns because it is very subjective.
We write our patterns as accurately as possible and ensure to describe all the techniques used at the end of the pattern. The writting is intended to be as pedagogical as possible; we conceive our patterns as guides that accompany you in the realization of your knits so that even someone who doesn’t yet know all the techniques can venture a little further.
You can check out our french video tutorials available here or other videos available on the internet to help you.
Sometimes, a pattern may prove to be too challenging compared to your skill level. It’s up to you to judge! If you’re not afraid of learning lots of new techniques all at once, go for a yoke in the round with cables… If you prefer to take it step by step, choose a pattern that will introduce you to one or two techniques that you’re completely unfamiliar with.
The techniques included in our patterns are listed in the pattern description on Ravelry or on the pattern page in the e-shop.
We can fix issues of imprecision or correct errors in a pattern, but we do not offer free guidance throughout the completion of a pattern. Similarly, we cannot rewrite the entire pattern to perfectly fit your measurements.
